'Fado' [Portuguese: destiny, fate].
Fado is a form of music characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics. Fado is usually linked to the Portuguese word 'saudade'. Saudade is a deep emotional state of nostalgic or melancholic longing for absent and beloved people and places. Fado is full of yearning, desire and homesickness.
I'm often a stranger in strange lands, even in my home town Melbourne. From Fez to Lisbon to London - this is my Fado my poetry.

If you want Henna?
‘If you want Henna?’
The signs read in the Fes Medina.
Is it a statement, or is it a question?
It is such an unreconciled sentence.
Unsatisfying
as the pale orange scribble I am left with on my hand.
